Presented by the UMass Public History Program with support from INNOVATE at Purdue and the UMass Amherst Graduate History Association, "History Communication in the 21st Century" was held on March 4th, 2016 in the Amherst Room at UMass Amherst. The event was part of the larger celebration of the 10th anniversary of the History Department’s signature Writing History program. A series of “lightning conversations” were held with prominent historians, journalists, and thought leaders from across the nation. Participants included leaders of major professional organizations (including the American Historical Association); nationally award-winning podcasters, bloggers and filmmakers; editors and journalists from TIME, Slate.com, ranking representatives from prominent national humanities centers, including the Library of Congress and the National History Center; and prominent faculty from UMass and other institutions.
